The Institut du Nouveau Monde (INM) is a non partisan organization whose mission is to develop citizen participation and the renewal of ideas in Québec. The INM works for justice and social inclusion, respecting democratic values, open mindedness and innovation. Through its actions, the INM encourages citizens’ participation and contributes to the development of civic skills, to the reinforcement of the social bond and to the recognition of democratic institutions.
To complete its mission, the INM implements different innovative programs with various scopes that reach thousands of citizens throughout Québec yearly. The INM organizes each year the École d’été and the École d’hiver for youth, and offers continuous support to young social entrepreneurs with the À go, on change le monde ! program. The INM also holds activities aimed at all publics, like the Rendez-vous stratégiques, the Caravane citoyenne, cinedebates and, from 2010 to 2012, the CIVICUS World Assemblies. The INM also joins many partners in the organization of specific events.
The INM approach is articulated through three verbs: to inform, to debate and to propose.
The INM benefits from the financial support of over 130 silent partners.
A non profit organization, the INM launched its activities on April 22, 2004, in Montréal with the participation of 300 citizens. In 2005, the INM received the Claire-Bonenfant prize, which is awarded by the Québec Government for democratic values and citizenship education.
